In Providence, Rhode Island, the Armenian Community of the State of Rhode Island organized a special reception to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the liberation of Shushi.
According to the Nagorno Karabakh Republic's Office in the USA, the reception was organized by the Armenian Revolutionary Federation’s Eastern U.S. Central Committee, the Armenian Cultural Association of Rhode Island and the Saints Vartanantz Armenian Church of Providence. Representatives of the Armenian community and dignitaries joined the celebrations.
Addressing the gathering, NKR Permanent Representative to the USA and Canada Robert Avetisyan talked about the importance of the victory of Artsakh in the war launched by Azerbaijan in 1992, and expressed confidence in future significant achievements. Robert Avetisyan thanked the vibrant Armenian community of Rhode Island for their continued involvement and support of Artsakh’s aspirations to continue developing as a free and sovereign country.
US Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI), Mayors of Providence, Warwick and Cranston also attended the celebrations, and offered their remarks to congratulate the people of Artsakh with the Triple Holiday- Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, Liberation of Shushi and Formation of the NKR Defense Army.
A concert took place.
