Georgi Petrosian

NKR Foreign Minister Georgi Petrosian

Georgi Petrosian was appointed Karabakh’s Foreign Minister in December 2005. Prior to this appointment, in 2001-2005 Petrosian worked as Foreign Affairs Advisor to NKR President.

From 1990 to 1995, Petrosian served as a member of the NKR Parliament. In January 1992, he was elected the Parliament’s Deputy Speaker, and from April 1992 until June 1993, he served as acting Speaker of the NKR Parliament.

Since 1988 Petrosian was an active participant of the movement for Karabakh’s independence.

In 1978-1990 Petrosian worked as electrical engineer, including as department head and chief technologist at the Stepanakert Capacitor Plant.

Georgi Petrosian is a graduate of the Minsk Institute of Radio Engineering with a degree in electrical engineering.

Petrosian was born in 1953 in Nagorno Karabakh. He is married and has two children.
