John Kchikian to Sponsor Atsakh
War Veteran's Surgery in Germany

PRESS RELEASE
March 8, 2001

WASHINGTON — The Office of the Nagorno Karabagh Republic (NKR) in the USA is pleased to announce that on March 7, 2001 Mr. John Kchikian of Detroit, MI informed that his organization, Armenian Children's Relief Fund, will sponsor Artsakh war veteran Martik Yesayan's medical treatment in Germany.

As we noted in our January special supplement to Artsakh Newsletter, Martik Yesayan sustained a severe head wound during the defense of Gyulistan-Shahumian province of Artsakh. Due to complexity of the procedure and seriousness of Martik Yesayan's condition, his doctors recommended that the operation be performed in Germany with cost estimated at $5,000-$6,000.

Last year Mr. Kchikian sponsored a thorough renovation and refurbishment of the school and water distribution system in Taghaser village of Dizak province (formerly Hadrut).

On behalf of the government and people of Nagorno Karabagh Republic we express our sincere gratitude to Mr. Kchikian for his continued generosity and exemplary patriotism. We also thank Dr. and Mrs. John Manuelian of Winchester, MA for their contribution.

The sponsors will receive detailed updates on expenditures for medical treatment of the veteran.
